If you require a special field collecting tour, we are always available. Our program is dependent on your arrival at the airport. Morocco fossils and minerals trip starts by receiving you at the hotel or airport in Casablanca.
DAY 1: Start your Morocco fossils and minerals tour from Casablanca
Our driver will pick you up from Airport Med 5 or your Casablanca hotel, and we will then visit Morocco’s largest mosque, Hassan Second Mosque. Then, in the evening, we will drop you off at your hotel.
DAY 2 : CASABLANCA – MARRAKECH
After your breakfast in the hotel, we will have around 3 hours of driving to Marrakech, where you will hang out in the evening.
DAY 3 :MARRAKECH-OUARZAZATE
At the stage of our Moroccan geological discovering trip, we leave Marrakech for Sidi Rahal to visit the first site, which is rich in quartz chalcedonies, amethyst, agate. In the afternoon, We will have lucnh with the miner before we take the road across the High Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazate where you will spend the night.
DAY 4 : OUARZAZATE-ALNIF
Departure from Ouarzazate after breakfast towards the Draa Valley through nice landscapes; stop at the Beni Zoli Ordovician site rich in big parts of huge trilobites. Then we picnic on the site in the afternoon before we drive further to Serradrar to visit the Silurian site and collect black arrowheads. Overnight in a small hotel in Alnif.
DAY 5 :ALNIF-ALNIF
After breakfast, we travel from Alnif to the Cambrian site, which is well-known for its enormous yellow trilobites. After that, we luxuriate in wonderful oasis before traveling to the Ordovician site of Jbel Tiskaouine, which is abundant in calymenes and flexycalymenes. By evening, we return to the same hotel.
DAY 6 :ALNIF-MHARCH
Today, we start exploring Isoumour’s famous trilobites post paradise, where all species of Devonian trilobites lived together, collecting rolled phacops. Then after, we picnic on the site and head to the Atchana site, also Devonian but in a flat area not a mountain. Afterwards, we will collect red ammonites in Lakrabis. Evening at Mharch in a nice Oasis in the desert.
DAY 7 :M’HARCH-MERZOUGA
After breakfast, we travel to Mecessi to collect Devonian trilobites at Lalla Mimouna, then to Jbel Mdawar to gather Devonian goniatites. Picnic there before heading to the Merzouga Erg Chebbi beautiful sand dunes. Overnight in a small yet nice Merzouga hotel.
DAY 8 :MERZOUGA-MERZOUGA
After breakfast, head south toward Taouz and stop at the well-known Kem kem site, which is rich in fish crocodiles, and spinosaurus bones and teeth. Next, gather echinoderms at the Boutariyt site. Then after, we picnic in the historic Filon 12 mine, known for its quartz and goethite before heading towards Mifis, an old laid mine. Overnight in the hotel in Merzouga.
DAY 9 : MERZOUGA-MERZOUGA
Departure north Merzouga. Collect black Devonian pyritised goniatites at Azourz site. Then trilobites at the Tisket site. Following that, we drive to visit an active Barythe mine. Enjoy lunch meal in the holy Oasis and then gather vertebrae-shaped bone bits and sand roses made of gypsum and sand. Back to the hotel in Merzouga for the night.
DAY 10 : MERZOUGA-ERFOUD
Visit the famous Devonian formation at Hamarlaghdad, which is rich in corals, bivalves, brachiopods, speripheres, and trilobites. Next, go on a picnic and see the extraction of crinoid fossils. After that, travel to Erfoud to see the factory where all large blocks are cut and turned into table tops, sinks, bookends, and decorative items.
DAY 11 : ERFOUD-MIDELT
Drive through the high atlas, visit the Oued Zem phosphate region, which is known for its shark teeth, and spend the evening at a hotel.
DAY 12 : MIDELT-MIDELT
Departure to visit Mibladen old mine rich in cerusite barythe, and vanadinite, even hard to find very deep and dangerous digging. Visit Ahouli old miner’s village, then we will have a picnic there, then go to collect azurite and malachite at Sidi Ayad. Evening back to Midelt, same hotel.
DAY 13: BENI MELLAL TO CASABLANCA
Transfer, depending on your flight time and location, to Casablanca or Marrakech.
DAY 14: PICK YOU UP TO THE AIRPORT
Finish your fossil tour with our staff. According to your flight time, we will transport you to the airport.
