Desert trip Erg Chegaga, 3 Days and 2 nights, from Marrakech to Erg chegaga via Zagora, through Draa Valley. The Real Sahara desert of Morocco.

Day 1: Marrakech “ Telouet Kasbah “ Ksar Ait benhaddou“ Ouarzazate

Depart early in the morning from your riad/hotel in Marrakech to begin our desert trip Erg Chegaga, via Morocco’s highest road pass, the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2260 m). Offering breathtaking mountain views, valleys with a winding road, and beautiful colors throughout the landscape. You will discover as well exotic Berber villages along the way. Following that you will visit Tamnougalte and other kasbahs. Dinner and overnight stay in Ouarzazate.

Day 2 : Ouarzazate“ Zagora “ Tamgroute “ Mhamid “ Desert trip Erg Chegaga

After breakfast, we will drive to Zagora through the palm-lined Draa river valley and its environs, including the Jewish quarter in Amzerou and the palm orchards. Following that, we continue on to M’hamid, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. We stop in Tamgroute, the original town of the 16th century dynasty (Saadian), to see an antique Coran library and a subterranean kasbah. We arrive in M’hamid, the end of the Draa valley and civilization. Lunch will be a desert Pic-Nic, followed by a drive to Erg Chegag, where you will begin your nomadic life by riding camels. And go through the desert, with its many facets of life and diverse components. Dinner and the evening will be enjoyable there.

Day 3: Chegaga sand dunes “ Foum Zguid “ Taznakht “ Marrakesh

After enjoying the sunrise up the sand dunes, breakfast is served to you, then departure by 4×4 via the old Paris-Dakar road to Foum Zguid, Passing by the natural dried lake of Iriki. 30 years ago this lake was full of water, and different kinds of birds. Then Stop for Lunch in the berber village Taznakht or Foum Zguid. It was a former trading post in this large region. This little Berber village is one of the biggest centers of carpets in the kingdom. Then we take the road to Marrakech.
