Morocco fossils and Minerals Hunting:

Welcome to Epic Zagora Tours to discover geological and paleontological fields of Morocco fossils. We provide tours for fossils collectors, hunters, geologists, paleontologists etc. Many interesting geological sites well preserved are waiting for you. To better assist you, we recommend a variety of arrivals and field collecting trips for fossils and minerals. However, If you require a special field collection tour, we are always available to serve you.

Morocco Fossils and Minerals Collecting trip (10 days)

Day 1 :Arrival to Casablanca airport transfer to hotel.

By the arrival to Casablanca airport, we transfer you to your hotel to relax before starting our journey, or starting our ‘’Morocco Fossil , and Minerals Collecting trip of 10 days trip ‘’ immediately after your arrival. However, that depends on your arrival time as well as your preferences and your suggestions.

Day 2 : Casablanca-Timahdite- Midelt

After breakfast at the hotel, depart for Azrou, located in the midst of the Middle Atlas. Lunch in the cedar forest, before continuing to the famous Michlifen extinct volcano rich in olivine and magna, then to the Jurassic site next to Timahdite rich in brachiopods, bivalves, and speriferes. If time allows, we will visit the Cretaceous site rich in black shark teeth near to Bakrit. Overnight at the hotel in Midelt.

Day 3 : Midelt-Sidi Ayad-Come back to Midelt (Local fossils)

After breakfast departure to visit Mibladen mines rich in barythe cerusite, also vanadinites but very hard to find then head to Ahouli old mine, to visit old mining equipments. Picnic in the valley then go to Sidi Ayad to collect azurite malachite and flurite evening back to same hotel in Midelt.

Day 4 : Midelt-Erfoud-Erg Chebbi

After breakfast, we will travel to Ziz gorges to collect Jurassic brachiopods and bivalves, then to Ziz valley to collect Cretaceous cenomanian echinoderms cidaris micrasteres. Afterwards we will picnic in the valley before returning to Erfoud city. Evening amid the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Morocco fossils in Merzouga

Day 5 : Merzouga-Merzouga(Morocco minerals & fossils)

After breakfast, we drive south through Merzouga to the Mifis mine, which was rich in laid and manganaise fifty years ago but is now desert except for the same employees seeking for enormous barytine. Then visit the Kemkem paleoriver beds, which are rich in fish, crocodiles, and dinosaur bones. Picnic there, then visit Filon 12, a historic mine rich in vanadinite, quartz, citrine, and other minerals. Then we’ll visit a Devonian site rich with rolled phacops before returning to your hotel in the dunes to unwind.

Day 6 : Merzouga-Merzouga

After breakfast, we will travel to north Merzouga to collect goniatites, which are made of goethite that has been pyritized due to the end Devonian huge explosion. Then we collect enrolled Devonian trilobites,. We stop for lunch in a sacred oasis full of palm trees before continuing on to collect sand flowers, fish, crocodiles, and dinosaur bones in the cretaceous site Safsaf. Evening return to the same hotel in the dunes.

Day 7 : Merzouga-Boutchrafine-Alnif

After breakfast, we drive to the famous Erfoud quarry 10 crinoids’mine to watch the extraction and pick up a few Devonian trilobites at Boutchrafine mount. After a picnic under a palm tree, we will visit the factory where all the large blocs are cut and produced into tables, dishes, book ends, and decorative items. Then proceed to Alnif. Evening at a small hotel, half-board

Day 8 : Alnif-Alnif (hunting trilobites)

After the morning breakfast, we will visit Cambrian mine where the big trilobites came from, such as cambropalace and paradoxidises. Picnic in the desert before going on to make a visit for the Ordovician mine of calymes and flexicalymenes of jbel Tiskaouine in the afternoon. Overnight at the same hotel in Alnif.

Day 9 :Alnif – Todra gorges – Midelt

Visit Todgha gorges and head back to refresh and have some rest at your hotel in Midelt.

Day 10 : Midelt- Oued Zem – Casablanca

Drive through the High Atlas Mountains and visit Oued Zem phosphate area which is famous by its shark teeth. Overnight in a hotel.
